The Bridge on the Drina River, Višegrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Between the fear that something would happen and the hope that still it wouldn't, there is much more space than one thinks. On that narrow, hard, bare and dark space a lot of us spend our lives.
― Ivo Andrić

The Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge created in XVI century, written on the UNESCO world heritage list is mostly known because of the book “The Bridge on the Drina River” by Yugoslav writer Ivo Andrić, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1961.

Cats of Kotor, Montenegro

I already told you that Kotor is a perfect place for cats lovers. They are everywhere and somehow they influence a special atmosphere in the city.

The Cats of Kotor Original Souvenirs and Handicraft is a special shop where you can find only cat themed objects, all made by local artists. In fact, you can also find there some cats food, packed in the little bags, offered for a symbolic price. As I got to know, all profits from the shops are given for feeding stray cats in the city.

Kotor, Montenegro

I discovered this lovely town in 2003 and it’s always nice to be back there. It’s a real pearl of Montenegro, with its history and cultural heritage, written on UNESCO’s list of world heritage. A legend says that Serbian king was advised to build this town near the sea, next to the harbor.

It’s impossible to miss it, if you’re driving on the south. The old city walls and the harbor will be the first thing which you’ll notice. You should park your car and enter to the city. You’ll be in paradise, lovely little streets, few churches, fortress and… cats ! In fact, cats are everywhere. I love this feeling to be surrounded by them…

Vranjina Monastery, Skadar Lake, Montenegro

Skadar Lake isn’t only a lovely part of the Montenegro, that’s also a place where a big part of the history was written. During my short boat trip, I discovered a little island with Vranjina Monastery. According to Wikipedia, Vranjina Monastery with its church dedicated to Saint Nicholas is one of the oldest monasteries in Montenegro.

In fact, after leaving the boat, you need about 10 minutes to climb on the top of the little mountain. Don’t be amazed to meet some tortoises

and cats (who were offered to the priest).
